AROC of San Diego has a great day planned. We will be meeting between 9:30 – 9:45 a.m. at North County Fair in Escondido. Our private shuttle bus will arrive at 9:45 with a 10:00 sharp departure.
We will enjoy the ride to The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, CA. with on-board movies. We will meet our guide for a private tour of the collection. Over 50 Antique, Vintage, Black Iron, and Classic Automobiles are displayed in the Lower and Grand Salon Showrooms (mechanical musical instruments are also displayed there). There are over 200 meticulously restored American and European automobiles dating from 1898 to 1982 in over 60,000 square feet between the two facilities (the Nethercutt Museum is right across the street). The tour is approximately 2 hours in length (1:30 – 3:30). At 3:45 take a 15 minute interior tour of a Locomotive and walk through the 1912 Pullman Private Car. The museum is open until 4:30, so time to check a bit of that out also.
We will stop off for a bite to eat on the way home (more information on that to come) and will be returning to the North County Fair parking lot approximately 9:00 p.m. (+/-)
There is no charge for the tour, but reservations are required. We currently have the date and time (7-25-09 at 1:30) reserved for our group of 20. Our shuttle can accommodate 24 passengers and I will follow-up with the guide if we need to increase our attendance numbers (they will accommodate as space is available). There is a charge for the shuttle, and the more passengers that “get on board”, the less each of us will need to pay.
I will be collecting payment for AROC-SD based on the number of people committed/paid. As additional people sign-up, the per person cost will be reduced and refunds will be distributed as applicable. With 20 people “on board”, the cost will be $40.50/per person. If we get 24 people our cost will be $33.75/per person …so spread the word. Please forward this information to other members/friends that may be interested. We will accept the reservation on a first come/first paid basis.
As our date approaches, I will be providing updates on the “sign-up/payment” so we can keep tabs on the available space and cost. Please confirm your attendance by remitting a check payable to AROC-SD.
